Candle Wedding Favors That Work at the Table and at Home

Choose and package candle wedding favors with personal labels, readable scent names and care information that reaches the recipient.

A wedding favor candle is often photographed from above at a place setting, then taken home in a bag. Design for both moments. The couple’s names should read at the reception, and the candle identity and care information should remain clear when a guest opens it later.

01

Start with the candle and its intended role

Decide whether the candle is a take-home favor, a personalized place marker or part of a larger welcome gift. Share that plan with the candle supplier. Review the vessel, scent, lid and quantity together, then confirm when finished samples will be available for the packaging proof.

If you expect candles to be lit during the reception, discuss the venue’s rules and the product’s intended use with the venue and maker. Favor packaging belongs in the take-home plan, while the venue needs its own approved setup for any candles used during the event.

02

Place personal artwork where guests will see it

For a candle set at each place, test a lid label with the names and date. For favors displayed upright, a front label may be more visible. A box gives another surface for a short thank-you while the vessel keeps its own identity.

Make a paper proof with the longest name combination before printing. Set it on the actual filled vessel or closed box. Check the curve and lid inset rather than choosing the label diameter from a styled photograph. Keep the scent name readable alongside the personal message.

03

Make the care information travel with the candle

Keep the maker’s appropriate safety label or tag and directions with every favor. If you add a card, use the information supplied for that specific candle. Check the complete package after the personal ribbon and gift box have been taken away.

The National Candle Association advises keeping candles away from flammable materials and supervising a burning candle. Plan the unboxing so decorative paper and ribbon are removed and set aside before use. A guest should be able to find the candle’s instructions without the original order email.

04

Pack by table or by pickup option

If the favors carry individual guest names, count them by table and keep a printed list with each transport box. Use a separate box for spare candles and replacement labels. For a shared display with several scents, count the options independently and make a small sign showing the choices.

Retain one approved favor as the packing reference. Photograph its front, lid and inside the gift box. On event day, the setup team can match that reference and keep every recipient’s care information with the right candle.

BEFORE YOUR NEXT STEP

Your practical checklist

  • Confirm candle, scent and quantity with the maker.
  • Proof labels at the final viewing angle.
  • Keep care and safety information with each favor.
  • Box personalized favors in table order.

Questions & answers

Can I personalize an existing candle?+

Ask the maker where personal artwork can be added while keeping the existing product information and care directions accessible.

Should the label go on the lid or jar?+

Compare both on a complete sample. A lid reads from above, while a jar label can be easier to see on a favor table.
